Pelt guitarist, Jack Rose performs with Chris Corsano on a UK tour in February, appearing in Glasgow and Edinburgh on the 19th and 20th
Norwegian pianist Ketil Bjornstad fronts all star band including Eivind Aarset, Arild Andersen, Per Lindvall and Andy Sheppard. The group tours the UK in March and plays Edinburgh's Queens Hall on the 21st. Toronto's Broken Social Scene tour their accessible brand of at.rock experimentalism in the uk in Feb. Playing Glasgow's Art School on the 17th. |

Volcanic Tongue has just announced the line-up of this year's Subcurrent. The annual festival will take place at Glasgow's CCA. Thursday April 20th:
Skaters, Axolotl, Inca Ore, Astral Social Club (Neil Campbell w/Tirath Singh, Nirmala and Richard Youngs) Friday April 21st: Burning Star Core, Prurient, Jessica Rylan Saturday April 22nd: Smegma, Joe McPhee & Chris Corsano Duo, Mouthus, Hive Mind, Aaron Dilloway Saturday 22nd will also feature a special film programme including screenings of the newAlbert Ayler documentary My Name Is Albert Ayler, co-presented by The Wire and a new avant/punk/DIY USA documentary hosted by Mike from Smegma and featuring footage of LAFMS, early Fred Cole, Wipers "and a whole buncha righteous no-counts". |

The Living Music festival in Dublin hosts a celebration to mark the 70th birthday of Steve Reich. The festival will feature performances of Music for 18 Musicians, City Life, Different Trains and Drumming amongst others. Performers include the Ensemble Modern. 17th-19th February at various venues in Dublin.
Tropicalia "a major festival of art, music, film, theatre and dance celebrating Tropicalia (the cultural revolution that re-defined Brazilian art, music and fashion in the 1960s and beyond)" takes place at London's Barbican Centre from 13th Feb - 22nd May. |

The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra & Scottish Chamber Orchestras present a double-header of works by Mark-Anthony Turnage at Glasgow's Fruitmarket in February. Two all-star jazz ensembles - featuring John Scofield, Peter Erskine and John Patitucci - will perform the composer's Blood on the Floor on the 4th & Scorched on the 10th.
