About White Noise
White Noise was started in the late 90's as a result of my interest in obscure and fringe musics. Frustrated by missing important gigs and by the lack of a consistent online resource for Scottish events, White Noise was started to address the gap. The site was reasonably successful but it eventually closed as a result of maintenance problems.

Since then the experimental music scene in Scotland has flourished. We now have several major annual festivals (Le Weekend, Instal & Kill Your Timid Notion) as well as a huge array of one off events, clubs, shops and a small army of enthusiasts devoted to promoting, documenting and participating in the scene.

So White Noise has been relaunched in a new incarnation. Once again the aim is to provide an online resource, listing forthcoming events (primarily in Scotland but with an eye on the country as a whole) plus news and reviews of performances and recordings. We will be making use of whatever internet tools we can to provide greater and more flexible access to information. Check out the White Noise Blog for general chat and the White Noise Photoblog for pictures of events.

We are also interested in contributions. If you attend any of the events covered by White Noise and want to contribute reviews and pictures, we will be glad to host them. Similarly we want to know what you are listening to. Reviews of discs, recordings, downloads, self released performances etc are all welcome. If you are involved in any kind of left field musical event, label, shop or any related endeavour and would like to publicise it via White Noise let us know.

White Noise is not a money making venture so we regret we can't offer any payment for submissions, but we do guarantee a warm welcome.
